WHY WE EXIST
Every girl deserves to feel safe, seen and supported.
Black and Brown girls possess tremendous creativity, insight and leadership potential. Yet many are growing up while navigating community violence, chronic stress, educational inequities, family responsibilities and limited access to culturally responsive mental-health support. Focus Fairies creates the relationships, safe spaces and opportunities girls need to heal, grow, lead and imagine possibilities beyond the conditions surrounding them.

OUR APPROACH
Joy is part of the healing.
We combine trauma-informed mentorship, culturally responsive curriculum, creative expression, movement, mental-wellness practices, leadership development and practical opportunity. Girls build trusted relationships, learn to name and navigate their emotions, strengthen their voices and gain exposure to new educational and professional possibilities.
Violence Prevention &
Intensive Mentoring
Group & individualized support
Individualized mentoring and resource navigation for girls impacted by community violence or connected to the justice system.
WOW Bus
Mobile wellness & outreach
Wellness, opportunity and support delivered directly into neighborhoods — meeting girls and families where they already are.
Whimsical Wonder and Wishes
Early intervention & school-based mentoring
Girls build confidence, emotional vocabulary and friendship skills through creative workshops and consistent group mentoring in their own schools.
B.E.E. Girls F.L.Y.
Leadership & workforce pathways
Career exposure, financial capability, professional networks and paid opportunity. Fifteen seats each term, open to alumni and to young women joining from the community.
Whimsical Wonder and Wishes
Early intervention & school-based mentoring
Girls build confidence, emotional vocabulary and friendship skills through creative workshops and consistent group mentoring in their own schools.
THE PROGRAM CONTINUUM
One pathway, from age 7 through young adulthood.
Girls do not age out of needing support. Our programs connect, so a girl who joins us at seven can still be with us at twenty-one.
Violence Prevention
Girls must be part of the violence-prevention conversation.
Girls experience community violence in distinct and often overlooked ways — as witnesses, survivors, caregivers, grieving family members and young people navigating institutions. Focus Fairies strengthens the protective relationships, emotional skills, peaceful conflict-navigation strategies and resource connections that help girls move beyond survival toward healing, agency and stability.

Chicago Roots
Meeting girls where they are.
Focus Fairies works in schools, community spaces, justice settings and neighborhoods across Chicago, with a primary concentration on the South and West Sides and select partner sites citywide.
